When Tony and Mike Munafo’s father was 29 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer. However, that didn’t stop him from sharing his dream of starting his own business.

“My father taught us the importance of a positive attitude, work ethic, perseverance and striving for excellence in all that we do,” Tony Munafo says.

The Munafos’ father lived 10 years longer, passing away at the age of 39. And his dream of starting a business helped inspire his sons to found their own company, ProLink Staffing Services, a full-service staffing and recruiting firm offering workforce management programs that include contract, contract-to-hire, direct placement and managed services. Tony Munafo is president and CEO while Mike Munafo is executive VP of the staffing firm.

The Munafos attribute their growth to the people at the firm. And the company is constantly evolving its training program in addition to investing in leadership development and technology.

“Mike and I look at it as just two individuals with the idea, but it’s really been our people that have been our No. 1 asset,” Tony Munafo says.

When it comes to culture, it is an equal dose of collaboration and competition. It’s also entrepreneurial, internal workers are viewed as “intrapreneurs.” The aim is to empower everybody in the organization to run their own business, and the company provides them with the process, tools and resources necessary to be successful. Mike and Tony are actively involved in the operations on a daily basis.

“Culture is the most important thing in our company,” Tony Munafo says. “We will never sacrifice our culture to hit a revenue number.”

ProLink is focused on three customer types: internal employees, external employees and customers.

“When our three clients are aligned, we know our culture is intact,” Mike Munafo says.

Per diem nurse staffing is ProLink’s largest segment. That is followed by allied healthcare and travel nurse staffing. The company also provides engineering, finance/accounting and IT staffing support.

The company expects continued growth in the future. Geographic expansion is one of the company’s initiatives. ProLink will open a total of four new offices this year, and plans to open eight more next year.

ProLink is also looking to expand its leadership, both by promoting from within and seeking talent outside the company.

“Everyone at ProLink has the same goal and that is to utilize ProLink as their vehicle to get where they want to go personally, professionally and financially,” Mike Munafo says.
