To get top results, you need top talent. And that’s Health Carousel’s schtick. They work hard by attracting and retaining quality workers,

“We’re winning the war for talent by building an organization that has an employee-centric culture,” CEO Bill DeVille says.

At the same time, Health Carousel also focuses on what it’s doing for its clients and healthcare professionals.

The Cincinnati-based healthcare staffing firms appears to be on the right track. This is the second year in a row it has appeared among the 10 fastest-growing US staffing firms.

What does Health Carousel do to treat its workers well? There are number of things.

For example, office space. The company aims to provide some of the coolest office space around for its workers. Health Carousel located its headquarters in a renovated 1880s fire house. And while it has since expanded the headquarters to a new site, it strove to maintain an interesting space at its new location. Features there include exposed ceilings, polished concrete and walking desks among.

“We think that where you work and spend most of your day matters,” DeVille says. “Just office space, I know it sounds like a small thing, but it matters.”

But that’s not all Health Carousel does for its workers.

“We have a very strong culture of recognition,” Deville says. That includes awarding event ticket for the Cincinnati Reds and FC Cincinnati soccer team; taking part in charitable campaigns; various contests; and more. The company landed on this year’s list of best places to work by the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper.

The company is also committed to continuous improvement and use of technology. It has a team of developers working to make things run more easily for employees, clients and professionals.

Training is big as well. DeVille says Health Carousel aims to be an “academy company” where people can learn about the industry and build their careers.

This January, Health Carousel also acquired healthcare staffing firm Medical Staffing Options. The Columbus, Ohio-based company provides of travel, per diem and perm placement for nurses and allied health professionals.

“So now we have three separate travel nursing brands in the marketplace and we are in the process today of pulling those organizations together so we can leverage the scale and diversity of recruiters,” DeVille says.

Other divisions are PassportUSA, aimed at bringing in health professionals to the US; Tailored Healthcare Staffing, a provider of travel nurse and travel allied health professionals as well as direct hire services for pharmacists and midlevel practitioners; and Next Medical Staffing, a provider of temporary and direct placement of physicians, advanced practice nurses and others.

For the future, DeVille Health Carousel’s intends to stay on its rapid growth path. First by continuing to hire and train top performers, second by seeking acquisitions and third by extending their brands.
