Employee Empowerment

Ensuring its own staff shines brings IDR Inc. fast-growing success

Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, Alpharetta, Georgia-based IDR Inc. has notched considerable success, having grown 300% over the past five years. The company ranks No. 50 in SIA’s Fastest-Growing US Staffing Firms list with 2020 revenue of $55.4 million, and a compound annual growth rate of 15.7%. Additionally, IDR grew internally to 150 employees from 30, with 66% of that growth occurring since the start of the pandemic.

“It’s a really exciting time for us as an organization, and it relies predominantly on empowering our people and giving back to ensure they are set up for success,” says IDR President and CEO, Ashley Holahan.

One hallmark to IDR’s growth includes investing heavily in its consultants and internal employees. While the company operates in several industries, its primary focus is information technology, and more recently, healthcare staffing. Facilitating a culture and environment where consultants continually feel connected and supported is integral to IDR’s mission and recognition of being a high-touch firm, Holahan states.

To that end, IDR created its Engagement Management Program to establish and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships with its consultants by creating opportunities for growth and excellence in their careers. “We invest heavily in the tools and platforms needed for our people to succeed, dedicating resources and personnel to answer questions and remain available wherever they are working, or on contract,” Holahan shares.

IDR is serious about its employee-first approach. In 2010, the company decided to put this in action by becoming an employee-owned company. Through IDR’s employee stock ownership program (ESOP), internal hires — as well as consultants — earn shares of company stock, simply by being an employee.

Through their ownership shares, employees are invested in IDR’s success. They are also passionate about the firm’s core values:

  • Be a Boss: Act with an ownership mentality.
  • Never Settle: Strive for excellence and continue to grow both personally and professionally.
  • Make It Happen: Act with urgency to deliver the highest levels of quality and service.
  • Go All In: Celebrate success and give your best every day.

All this, in turn, inspires IDR’s continued success. With its tremendous growth over the last five years, it’s only natural to guess what the future might hold for IDR Inc.
